Once you allow location access, Location Vault drops a pin every few minutes while you're on the move, even when the app is closed. When you stop moving it sleeps with location off, and low-power signals from iOS wake it when you set off again. Every day also starts with a pin where you are.

With Always, Location Vault can sleep with location off until you move, which saves battery, and iOS can wake it to log even after it's been closed. With While Using the App, location has to stay on in the background (you'll see the blue indicator) and logging stops if the app is closed. You can change this in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Location Services.

In the app's Settings, make sure Log My Location is on and Location Access says Always. In iOS Settings, check that Location Services is on, and that Precise Location is on for Location Vault. If you only allow location while using the app and you've closed it, open it again to restart logging.

It's built not to. While you're still, Location Vault sleeps with location off and waits for low-power signals from iOS that you've moved. While you're on the move, it turns GPS on for a few seconds at a time to drop a pin every few minutes.

No. There's no account and no Location Vault server. Your pins are stored on your iPhone or iPad and synced through your own private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can open. I can't see them, and nothing in the app passes them to advertisers or anyone else. Turn on the Face ID lock and nobody can open the app on your phone either.

Open Settings in the app and turn on Lock with Face ID (or Touch ID or Passcode, depending on your device). From then on, Location Vault asks for it whenever you open the app, and hides your map in the app switcher. It's free for everyone, and pins keep logging while it's locked.

iOS offers your device passcode instead, so you can always get in. If your device has no passcode, the lock can't work: set one in iOS Settings, under Face ID & Passcode.

Deleting the app removes the history stored on that device. To remove the copy in iCloud as well, open iOS Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, manage your iCloud storage and delete Location Vault's data.

Sign in to the new iPhone with the same Apple Account and keep iCloud on. Install Location Vault and your pins come back on their own.

Free shows your last 30 days. Location Vault keeps logging everything either way, so upgrading to Pro shows all of your history straight away.

With Pro, tap the share button on the map, choose your dates and a format (GPX, KML, CSV or GeoJSON), then save or send the file wherever you like.

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought Pro with.

Yes. Monthly, yearly and lifetime all work with Family Sharing, so the people in your family group get Pro too.

In the app, open Settings and tap Manage Subscription. You can also cancel in iOS Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.

Open Settings in the app and tap Redeem Code, or redeem it in the App Store app.
