Peek Notes · Last updated

Peek Notes is a notes app made by David Ellis. This policy explains what happens to the notes you write in it.

What Peek Notes stores

Your folders and notes are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also stored in your private iCloud database so that they sync between your devices and survive moving to a new phone. That database belongs to your Apple Account; the developer cannot read it, and Apple's own iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to it.

What Peek Notes collects

Nothing. Peek Notes has no accounts, no analytics and no third-party advertising or software. It never sends your notes, your identity or your usage anywhere other than Apple's iCloud service described above and the banner request described below.

Peek Notes shows a small banner for another app from the same developer. The app downloads the banner's text and image from theracingline.app. That request says which app is asking, its version, the type of device and the device's language. It includes no account, device or advertising identifier. We don't keep a record of these requests, though our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a limited time, as for any website. The app doesn't record whether you see or tap the banner.

Widgets

Widgets display your notes on your Home Screen. They read the same data stored on your device and do not transmit it. Note text is marked privacy-sensitive, so iOS hides it in contexts where the device is locked, such as StandBy.

Apple Watch

If you use Peek Notes on Apple Watch, your iPhone sends a copy of your folders and notes to your paired watch over Apple's own connection between the two. The watch keeps that copy to show your notes in the app, in complications and in widgets, and sends it nowhere else. Watch complications and widgets are marked privacy-sensitive too, so watchOS can hide them, for example while your watch is locked.

Deleting your data

Delete folders or notes in the app, or delete the app. To remove the synced copy as well, delete the app's data from iCloud in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.
